Bird Furies

How to Make a Bird Fury

Interested in making your own Bird Fury? You’re in the right place. Follow the instructions below to get started on creating your feathered friend.

  1. Make sure you have read the species rules and General species information

  2. Find a bird you would like to claim — this is the bird your character will be based off of. You may only claim birds that exist in real life — extinct species are acceptable. I will also accept claims for different breeds and/or phenotypes of birds, as long as they are standardized (for example, different breeds of chicken, or different colorations of cockatiel like pied, pearl, lutino, etc.)

  3. Check the Bird Fury masterlist to make sure your claim is available; if the bird you’ve chosen has already been claimed by someone else, you will need to choose a new one

  4. If your claim is available, make your claim by commenting on the post linked below. This is the only way to make a valid claim. Claims are not accepted over DM, email, etc.

  5. All claims must be specific; for example, eagle or sparrow is not valid because it does not specify what species you’re referring to — an acceptable claim would be Bald eagle or House sparrow. You do not need to include the scientific name of your bird, only the common name.

  6. You may not begin designing your Bird Fury until your claim has been approved, even if you are 100% sure that your claim is available

  7. Once your claim has been approved, you may design your character. You will have 90 days (approximately 3 months) to create a reference for your Bird Fury before your claim becomes invalidated and removed from the list. You may receive additional time if you ask for it

  8. After you have created a reference for your character, please do at least one of the following:

  • Tag @vile.serpent in your reference post

  • Reply to your claim comment saying that you’ve completed your reference

  • DM @vile.serpent either your reference/reference post, or message saying you’ve completed your reference. If you are a private account, please use this option

Species Rules

Bird Fury species rules; read them carefully! The owners reserve the right to give warnings and/or blacklist those who fail to comply with these rules, and also reserve the right to change, add to, or alter these rules as-necessary

  1. All Bird Furies must adhere to the guidelines written in the species general information sheet

  2. You may only claim one bird at a time. You may not claim another bird until 14 days (two weeks) after you have posted a reference for a previous claim

  3. You may not make a claim for someone else. If you are designing a Bird Fury for someone, please have them make the claim themselves

  4. If you change your username or transfer ownership of a Bird Fury, please notify @vile.serpent so that the masterlist can be updated. Failure to do so may result in your claim being removed from the list when an update/clear-out occurs

  5. Under no circumstances may you use this species to copy the species of another artist

  6. All references need to be drawn, either traditionally or digitally. References may not be made through edits, and under no circumstances are you allowed to submit AI-made works. Copied or traced works are also not allowed.

  7. Many birds may be of different species, but they may look almost identical. Please do your best to make sure you are not copying anyone else that has claimed a bird species similar to yours

  8. If you have any questions, please visit the FAQ page first. If your question is not answered there, you may: reach out to @vile.serpent on Instagram via DM, comment on the Bird Fury species information post on Instagram, or email [email protected]
